Welcome to St Gerard’s Educational Resource Centre

St Gerard’s is a Catholic maintained special school for boys and girls aged 4-16 with learning difficulties. Many pupils also experience other difficulties that act as a barrier to education. The pupils come from all over the city of Belfast and beyond. They are admitted through the Schools Psychological service. In addition to full time provision we also offer short term places on our reading courses and Outreach Support to Mainstream Primary and Secondary schools.

Our staff are trained in the education of pupils on the Autistic Spectrum (ASD), Linguistic Phonics, Numicon, Reading Recovery, Dyslexia and ADHD. We offer the full range of Northern Curriculum subjects with a strong emphasis on personal development and Careers education. A speech and language unit is attached to the school and pupils also have access to Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. The School Health Service are regular visitors to. We have a broad based Extended Schools Programme fostering a strong and effective partnership among and between home school and community.

A new school is in the early stages of planning which will offer ‘state of the art’ facilities.

Why don’t you and your child come up and see us….
